In 1902, a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck was searching for a better method to temper steel, enhancing its ability to maintain a sharp edge for longer periods of time. This led to the creation of the first Buck Knife, marking the beginning of a unique approach. Hoyt handcrafted each knife, utilizing worn-out file blades as the primary material.
During World War II, Hoyt's skillful craftsmanship garnered significant appreciation. Meanwhile, his eldest son Al had completed his service in the navy and relocated from the Pacific Northwest to San Diego, California. In 1945, Hoyt and his wife Daisy moved in with Al and his young family, establishing a business called H.H. Buck and Son.
After the passing of his father, Al took charge and continued the fledgling custom knife venture until officially incorporating it as Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961. Al involved his son, Chuck, in the knife business at a young age. When the company was incorporated, Chuck and his wife, Lori, were both actively involved.
In 1964, Buck Knives revolutionized the knife industry with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, solidifying its position as a leader in the field. This proud legacy is still upheld today. Chuck worked his way up the company ranks, serving as President and CEO for many years before passing the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999.
Despite stepping down from his role, Chuck remained actively involved as Chairman of the Board until his death in 2015. Lori, Chuck's wife, currently serves on the Board of Directors and continues to actively participate in Buck's promotional events throughout the U.S., carrying forward Chuck's legacy.
Buck Knives are renowned for their durability and versatility. They are specifically designed to withstand even the harshest conditions while maintaining sharpness over extended periods. These knives are ideal for various activities such as hunting, camping, bushcrafting, fishing, hiking, and overlanding.
The 117 Brahma knife, also known as the mini 119 Special, boasts a classic design inspired by Buck's early fixed blades. It features a timeless appearance complete with a traditional guard and pommel, ensuring durability and reliability for any task.
Equipped with a 4.5" S35VN clip blade, the 117 Brahma knife offers razor-sharp precision. This blade is highly resistant to corrosion and retains its edge, making it suitable for detailed work or heavier tasks during outdoor activities.
The handle of the 117 Brahma knife is made from green canvas micarta and includes an aluminum guard and pommel. This combination ensures a comfortable grip, while the 0.120" thick blade guarantees strength and durability.
Each Buck knife undergoes Buck's signature Paul Bos heat treat process, ensuring proper tempering to achieve the appropriate Rockwell Hardness. This results in longer edge life, easy resharpening, and a reliable blade that won't disappoint.
For convenient and secure carrying, the 117 Brahma knife comes with a genuine leather sheath. It features a belt loop, allowing you to keep the knife within reach at all times.
Buck's commitment to quality is reflected in their Forever Warranty. This warranty guarantees that every Buck knife is free from defects in material and workmanship for the entire lifespan of the knife.
